Matt brings more than 30 years of experience in college admissions and college counseling, offering families a unique perspective from both sides of the admissions process. He understands what colleges look for in applicants and how to help students identify institutions where they will thrive.

Matt began his career in college admissions at Saint Peter’s College (now Saint Peter’s University), later serving as an admissions counselor at Vanderbilt University. While earning his Ed.M. at Harvard University, he continued to expand his admissions expertise as an application reader for MIT, where he reviewed applicant files and participated in admissions committee discussions.

After working in higher education, Matt transitioned to secondary education, where he could work more directly with students and families. He served as the Director of College Counseling at Portledge School, an independent school on Long Island’s North Shore. He then moved into public education and has spent the past 20 years as a dean of students at a highly regarded public school in Westchester County, NY.

Throughout his career, Matt has developed a deep understanding of the college admissions landscape, including changing admissions trends, application strategies, and the challenges students and families face during the process. He has visited hundreds of college campuses and brings firsthand knowledge of institutions across the country.

Matt is actively involved in professional organizations including NACAC, NYACAC, NEACAC, WRPCA, ICEA, and the College Board. He regularly attends professional conferences and has presented on topics related to college admissions and student support. He is also highly experienced with college planning platforms and application systems, including Naviance, SCOIR, and the Common Application. At his current school, he serves as the SAT Test Coordinator and ACT Assistant Test Coordinator.
